EXCELLENCE PMI 2017 AND 2019<\/h3>\n

Italy boasts 722 excellent companies operating from North to South<\/strong><\/span>: almost one of three in Lombardy, manufacturing dominates, the trend of sustainability is consolidated. Italian<\/strong> <\/span>entrepreneurial excellence<\/span> <\/strong>is represented by 722 companies active from North to South: a ceiling of companies able to generate value, fostering new employment<\/strong><\/span>, investing in innovation and becoming competitive also in foreign markets<\/strong><\/span>. These data emerge from the 2019 edition of the Global Strategy PMI Observatory<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, a report based on the analysis of a database containing personal data and financial statements from the last five years of over 60,000 joint-stock companies with a turnover of more than 5 million euros. From the examination of 10 thousand mid-cap companies (turnover between 20 and 250 million euros in manufacturing, 20 and 500 million in commerce), the Observatory has identified the companies with excellent performance in terms of revenue growth, profitability and financial strength.<\/em><\/p>\n

The national panorama is very varied and sees the first place in the regional ranking occupied by Lombardy<\/strong><\/span>, where 210 companies out of 722 operate. Followed by Emilia-Romagna<\/strong><\/span> and Veneto<\/strong><\/span>. The majority of successful SMEs are concentrated in the North of Italy. 37.1% in the North West, 34.9% in the Northeast, 16.9% in the Center and 11.1% in the South and Islands.<\/em><\/p>\n

As regards the production sectors<\/strong><\/span>, the Italian excellent companies are mainly active in the manufacturing sector (especially mechanics, food and beverages, metallurgy), in trade and to a lesser extent in services.<\/em><\/p>\n

The data also show an evident propensity of companies to open up to M&A<\/strong><\/span> (Merger & Acquisition) operations and to the entry of new capital<\/strong><\/span>. The 42% of acquisitions and \/ or joint ventures in the last three years and 63% of operations planned for the next three years testify to the opening to extraordinary operations<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n

And for the propensity for innovation<\/strong><\/span>: among excellent SMEs, 5% of turnover is reinvested in R&D activities. In addition, 7% of these companies carry out corporate venture capital operations.<\/em><\/p>\n

Investments<\/strong> <\/span>(commercial development, human resources, reduction of environmental impact) are increasing in 90% of excellent companies, while in terms of internationalization<\/strong> <\/span>they obtain 40% of turnover from exports.<\/em><\/p>\n

The 2019 report focused on the combination of sustainability<\/strong><\/span> and value creation<\/strong><\/span>. From the surveys carried out, the lever of reputation but also of differentiation on the market emerged. As Antonella Negri-Clementi, president and CEO of Global Strategy revealed, it is that based on the data, virtuous behaviors<\/strong><\/span> emerge that are often unconscious and “little communicated”.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
